Vieste is one of the most visited tourist destinations of the Gargano. Perched at the eastern end of the promontory, Vieste has two long sandy beaches. Its origins are very ancient as evidenced by the various archaeological sites in the vicinity and by the findings of various tools and tombs.

It is characterized by narrow, winding streets, white houses by small doors. It stands on a rocky promontory, and on top of it, not far from the castle (which was built by Frederick II in 1240), the Basilica, one of the oldest examples of Apulian architecture of the eleventh century.

The Pizzomunno is that white monolith that stands out with its 25 meters long at the mouth of the homonymous beach. The Pizzomunno, according to legend, a young man turned to stone by the jealousy of the sirens that prevented the realization of his love affair with Cristalda.

Vieste's coast stretches to the north-west and south, with winding beaches and rocky points that often are dipped sharply. The high coast welcomes many cavities that are true miracles of magic and wonder. There are many tourists who annually visit the beautiful caves.

The rock is located about 4.5 km from Vieste and is known as the Architiello of San Felice. Legend has it that it was built by the sea nymphs and Tritons to welcome, celebrate and honor the god Neptune, on a pleasure trip with his wife Amphitrite.
